These changes are part of a national NHS move towards Modern General Practice, which aims to make it easier for patients to reach their surgery, ensure fairer access to appointments, and provide better continuity for those who need ongoing care.
Like many practices, we are seeing more people needing our help than ever before, but our staff numbers haven’t increased at the same rate. We also know from patient feedback that shorter waiting times and seeing the right clinician more quickly are top priorities.
Importantly, our recent patient survey highlighted that quicker access to appointments and improved continuity are what matter most to our patients. Total Triage directly supports these priorities by helping us respond more quickly to urgent needs, while also ensuring that patients who need ongoing care are more consistently directed to the same clinician.
To meet these challenges and respond to what patients have told us, we will be introducing Total Triage from 5th January.
